Professional Counseling Associate
Supervisor: Desiree Dalkiran, LPC

Welcome, I’m Nikkie (she/her)

I am committed to helping people find healing and resilience by reconnecting them with their innate strengths and the world around them. My work is grounded in the belief that meaningful change occurs when clients are met with compassion and empathy. I believe in the innate capacity for every individual to heal and grow, and I am here to facilitate that process by providing a safe, supportive environment and active guidance. My approach integrates somatic psychology, person-centered approaches, and adventure-nature-based experiential counseling.

Using a somatic lens, my approach is grounded in the understanding that each person has unique life experiences held within their body that inform their present state. In the course of our work, we may use somatic techniques to tune into physical sensations, emotions, or memories, driving underlying stress responses. By listening to your body, we’ll create a safe space for you to explore deeper emotional truths and release old patterns that may be keeping you stuck. This provides a path towards embodied healing, greater resilience, and replenishment.

My approach is also influenced by adventure-based counseling, which weaves together the impact that nature, our environment, and physical activities can have on mental health and well-being. Occasionally, my work takes me outside the office to incorporate nature, metaphor, or experiential activities that offer opportunities to build on coping skills, confront personal challenges, or improve interpersonal relationships.

I work with individuals navigating anxiety, depression, burnout, health challenges, and trauma. My bachelor’s degree is in social science and psychology from Portland State, and I have a master’s degree in clinical mental health from Prescott College. My master’s emphasis was somatic psychology and integrated social justice praxis. In addition to my formal education, I’m in the process of completing my adventure-based counseling certification as well as Somatic Experiencing coursework.

When I’m not with clients, I enjoy spending time with family and friends, knitting, or spending time in nature.
