Therapy is a call to the adventure of self-exploration. My style is compassionate and collaborative. I offer unconditional support, active listening, and mindfulness-based therapy. I ask clarifying and amplifying questions to help identify and address habitual patterns of thinking and to encourage the cultivation of openness, flexibility, and resilience. At each step, we work together to discover your inner wisdom; build creative capacity for problem-solving; and move you towards the healing and balance that you seek.

As a Professional Counselor (LPC #C4985,) I am skilled in clinical assessment, diagnosis, multicultural counseling, ethics, and evidence-based practices, such as Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Trauma-Focused CBT, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Motivational Interviewing. As a Licensed and Registered Art Therapist (ATR,) I have specialized training in expressive therapeutic modalities, including creative writing, visual arts, and Jungian Sandplay.

In addition to my clinical training, I have a background in Comparative Literature (M.A., University of California, Berkeley), and Cultural Studies (B.A., Sarah Lawrence College). My educational path reflects a lifelong, interdisciplinary interest in meaning-making: how we discover and construct a coherent understanding of ourselves and our place in the world through symbols, archetypes, myths, imagery, and language. I also have more than 25 years of experience with Soto Zen Buddhist contemplative meditation practice.

I specialize in working with clients experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, relational and attachment concerns, identity (LGBTQIA+) exploration, existential (spiritual) concerns, and life transitions. I also have experience working with youth impacted by PTSD, juvenile justice system involvement, and challenges with cultural adjustment, including refugee and immigrant communities.

My goal is to create an environment where clients feel safe, understood, and empowered to grow. I aim to combine contemplative and creative practices with evidence-based behavioral interventions, helping clients understand and work with their particular forms of suffering and strength to find a true (inner) refuge that can support them during times of transition and uncertainty. For clients seeking a therapist who can honor both emotional depth and cultural complexity, I provide an integrative, affirming, and healing space.
